Snap-O Fact #87

PRESIDENT OBAMA PATIENTLY PRESSES FOR HUMAN RIGHTS IN CHINA!

Chinese President Hu Jintao recently made a State Visit to America. Although President Obama assured him that the United States considers Communist China a friend and key economic partner, Mr. Obama pushed the Chinese President to practice freedom and democracy toward his people, especially on the issue of human rights in China. Specific issues discussed ranged from censorship, to worker's rights, to imprisonment without proper trial. In order to win the support of Chinese President Hu, President Obama treated him in a respectful and friendly manner during his visit to America. Currently, there are more and more Chinese workers protesting against sweatshop conditions and asking for higher wages and better working conditions. This is a hopeful sign indicating a push for increased democracy and worker's rights from the bottom up in China. President Hu faces pressure within his country while President Obama uses moral suasion to convince him to do right by his countrymen.
