Snap Fact #229 - The Obama Administration Provided $5 Billion to Early Learning Programs!

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act passed by Congress in February of 2009 with the active support of the President included a big, important section regarding the educational system in the America. 

Specifically, the Act provided $5 billion for early learning programs such as Early Head Start, Head Start, childcare, and services for children with special needs. 

In order to encourage states to support early learning programs, the Race to the Top program will distribute $500 million among states that plan to improve early learning programs for children and families with low incomes. “A world-class education is the single most important factor in determining not just whether our kids can compete for the best jobs but whether America can out-compete countries around the world. America's business leaders understand that when it comes to education, we need to up our game. That's why we’re working together to put an outstanding education within reach for every child,” said the President.
