Snap Fact #343

Comparing Platforms:  Federal Funding for Disaster Relief

President Obama’s Democratic Platform Provides For Prevention & Relief;

Mitt Romney’s Republican Platform Has No Concern!

Platform Issue #25: Provide Adequate Federal funding for Disaster Relief

This Snap Fact is part of a major multi-part series that will compare the Democratic and Republican Platforms. These documents are the philosophical foundations that tell us how the winning candidate will govern.

A lot of work went into this series researched by Allen Robbins.

Outside of The Rational Majority’s SNAP-CAP heading, every word in the body of each SNAP-CAP is taken verbatim from 100s of pages comprising the two party platforms. Read and compare these CAPS so you will know which candidate is on YOUR side.

Democrat: We support strengthening rural water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure to make rural businesses more competitive. We have expanded broadband access to nearly seven million rural Americans, including rural businesses, creating new jobs. We have invested in water and wastewater community infrastructure projects, safeguarding the health of 18 million rural residents and creating even more jobs. Democrats will strengthen the American farm safety net by renewing crop disaster relief, maintaining strong crop insurance programs, and creating a permanent disaster relief program. We will improve access to education and health care, especially for rural veterans, and conserve millions of acres of public lands while supporting rural recreation and tourism.

Republican: (There is NO information to provide adequate Federal funding for disaster relief. In fact if the current Republican tax cutting program continues this should have a major impact for any relief program, in the smaller government mentally.)
