ObamaCare Assures Essential Health Benefits Even For Individuals and Small Groups!
Today we will close out our tour-de-force of ObamaCare’s benefits supplied by Consumers Union. We hope that this series has given you helpful information and a new insight into the many benefits of ObamaCare. The Rational Majority is confident that if President Obama is reelected, with a Democratic majority in both houses of Congress, that the existing Affordable Health Care Act will serve as the basis for an improved version as one of the priorities of the administration.
Essential Health BenefitsThe Affordable Care Act ensures Americans have access to quality, affordable health insurance. To achieve this goal, the law ensures health plans offered in the individual and small group markets, both inside and outside of the Affordable Insurance Exchanges (Exchanges), offer a comprehensive package of items and services, known as “essential health benefits.”
Essential health benefits must include items and services within at least the following 10 categories:
Ambulatory patient services
Emergency services
Hospitalization
Maternity and newborn care
Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment
Prescription drugs
Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices
Laboratory services
Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management, and
Pediatric services, including oral and vision care
