President Obama Launched A Three-Pronged Attack To Help People Help Themselves!

In order to help small businesses, people devastated by natural disasters, and encourage young adults to seek jobs, President Obama signed the Disaster Relief and Summer Jobs Act on June 3, 2010. There are three key elements in this legislation:

1.) A disaster relief fund made $5.1 billion available to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to ensure that it is capable of rebuilding communities after disasters as well as for preparing for future disasters.

2.) $600 million was earmarked specifically tto provide young people with summer jobs. This accounted for an additional 300,000 summer jobs for American youth from the age of 16 to 21 through summer employment program.

3.) The Small Business Administration was granted $60 million so they could make it easier for small businesses in this economy by eliminating the normal fees for loans
