President Obama Requested to Increase Funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Smithsonian!
The President did not stop delivering on his promise to support and promote the arts in his early days. Faced with the incredible decisions that he faces daily, demanding his undivided attention, it is truly remarkable that his ubiquitous mind can still pay attention to the Arts that nourish and inspire the deepest feelings within the human breast.
In early 2012, President Obama proposed to Congress to increase funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in order to promote and support artists in the United States. The request was made to ask for $154 million for NEA to show that the government and the President understand the significant role of arts and creativity in people’s lives and the economy.
Besides this, the President also requested $857 million for the Smithsonian Institution to upgrade his old historic buildings and complete its new major artistic projects. “The arts and the humanities do not just reflect America. They shape America. And as long as I am President, I look forward to making sure they are a priority for this country,” claimed the President.
