President Obama signed North American Wetlands Conservation Act!

With the support and encouragement of President Obama, the North American Wetlands Conservation Act was passed by Congress and signed into law on March 25, 2010. The legislation provides $47 million. The Act provides for cooperation with Canada and Mexico making the effort a continental endeavor. According to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service the intention of the Act is to encourage;

1) protection of wetland ecosystems for birds, fish, and wildlife 2) the formation of public/private partnerships to develop and implement wetland conservation projects consistent with the North American Waterfowl Management Plan. This plan is a blueprint for continental waterfowl and wetlands conservation as well as other North American migratory bird conservation agreements.
