In order to strengthen American security system and track biological weapons, the Obama Administration has expanded the federal bioforensics program to use high-tech devices to identify any country, organization, or individual using biological weapons and legally prosecute them. Specifically, the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center at Fort Detrick in Maryland includes a state of the art Analysis Center that “conducts bioforensic analysis of evidence from a biocrime or terrorist attack to attain a ‘biological fingerprint" to help investigators identify perpetrators and determine the origin and method of attack,” according to the center’s official website. In addition, the new National Bio- and Agro-defense Facility in Manhattan is moving forward to identify any biological uses threatening American agriculture in order to stop and prevent harm to our food supply.
