Snap-O Fact #47

President Obama Ended The Use Of Torture.

Two days after taking office (Jan 22, 2009), President Obama issued a detailed executive order on the use of torture and extreme rendition (a process to transfer prisoners to other countries) as he had promised during his Presidential campaign in 2008. The order indicates that all prisoners “shall in all circumstances be treated humanely and shall not be subjected to violence to life and person (including murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment, and torture), nor to outrages upon personal dignity (including humiliating and degrading treatment),” accord to PolitiFact.com. As the President of the United States, Mr. Obama sent a message to the world that America will no longer tolerate any form of torture and extreme rendition.
