Mayor Andrew Gillum visits Mothers Against Murderers Association

Steve West, CIO (Chief Inspiration Officer) and Bob Averack, Chief Technology Officer of TRM were in attendance at a campaign event for Mayor Andrew Gillum (D, Tallahassee), a 2018 candidate for Governor of Florida. The event was held at the West Palm Beach headquarters of our affiliate, Mothers Against Murderers Association (MAMA). The subject of every day gun violence in the community was front and center, including the need for sensible gun safety legislation and a call for one, united voice between groups like March For Our Lives, the National Association of Students Against Gun Violence and community-based organizations like MAMA. In addition, Mayor Gillum spoke on a variety of topics pertaining to quality of life improvements in the State of Florida, including criminal justice reform, improvements in public education, economic fairness, protection of our coastline, infrastructure improvements, restoration of voting rights, and many other topics.

Despite torrential rain, more than 60 people attended this event.
Throughout the office, the walls were covered with the compelling photos of women holding the photos of their loved ones who were lost to gun violence.

Angela Williams, Founder and President of MAMA. Angela has personally lost SEVENTEEN members of her family to gun violence, and she has attended more than 350 funerals for others who were tragically caught in the crossfire!
