Snap Fact #328
Embryonic Stem Cell Research

President Obama’s Democratic Platform Supports Embryotic Stem Cell Research;
Mitt Romney’s Republican Platform Does Not!

Platform Issue #12: Protecting Embryonic Stem Cell Research

This Snap Fact is part of a major multi-part series that will compare the Democratic and Republican Platforms. These documents are the philosophical foundations that tell us how the winning candidate will govern.

A lot of work went into this series researched by Allen Robbins.

Outside of The Rational Majority’s SNAP-CAP heading, every word in the body of each SNAP-CAP is taken verbatim from 100s of pages comprising the two party platforms. Read and compare these CAPS so you will know which candidate is on YOUR side.

Democrat: President Obama first month in office has by executive order reversed Presidents George W Bush order preventing Embryonic Stem Cell Research.

Republican: We call for a ban on the use of body parts from aborted fetuses for research. We support and applaud adult stem cell research to develop lifesaving therapies, and we oppose the killing of embryos for their stem cells. We oppose federal funding of embryonic stem cell research.

(Supplemental Note: Republicans Will Try To Outlaw In Vitro Fertilization - Georgia Republican - “Under Representative Broun’s proposed law, this award of full legal protections to all fertilized eggs, even one created just one minute ago, would be given regardless of the ability of the fertilized egg to implant in a womb and grow to become a baby. H.R. 4157 states this very directly”:

“Human being life begins with fertilization, cloning, or its functional equivalent, irrespective of sex, health, function or disability, defect, stage of biological development, or condition of dependency, at which time every human being shall have all the legal and constitutional attributes and privileges of personhood.”

This bill if passed would end Family Planning and make it impossible for any women to have any kind of abortion.”)
